Vacancy: Mobile Software Developer
Nfonix is a small but growing mobile app development company based in Cambridge, developing bespoke native iOS and Android apps for clients, along with its own apps and software platforms.
We are looking for a junior software developer to assist with development, maintenance and testing of Android phone and tablet apps. The developer will participate in the entire app lifecycle, from concept development to delivery and post launch support.
Skills or experience with server-side and other technologies including PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML would also be beneficial. As a small company we require someone who can be flexible and is keen to learn new technologies and try their hand at anything.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Android development
- Working across the app lifecycle – design, build, deploy, test, release and support
- Working alongside other members of the team to assist on other projects as required
- Assist with development of back-end hosted web services to support applications
- Create compelling device specific user interfaces and experiences
- Measuring and optimising performance of apps
- Troubleshooting code and dealing with bug reports
- Keeping up to date on the latest mobile industry trends
Essential skills:
- Android SDK
- Strong OO design and programming skills in Java
- Knowledge of SQLite
- Experience of web service integration (REST, JSON)
- Familiar with Eclipse / Android Studio
Additional, desirable skills:
- iOS + Objective C skills (not required but would be highly desirable)
- Familiar with Xcode and iOS development tools
- LAMP development experience
- Creative design skills, ability to use Photoshop/Illustrator
- Ability to create high quality mockups
- Experience of development using web technologies
- Understanding of HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery and PHP
- Experience building both web and native apps
Personal requirements:
- Published examples of mobile applications on the App store or the Android market
- Demonstrable knowledge of app design, user interaction and usability design principles
- Ability to multi task and good time management skills
- Ability to work on their own and as a part of the team
- Ability to scope work and estimate time requirements
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Good customer skills including ability to liaise with clients and deal with enquiries
